Onassis millions for welfare
Onassis millions for welfare Dundee Courier - Friday 06 June 1975 Miss Christina Onassis, daughter and principal heiress of the late Aristotle Onassis, announced yesterday that half of her fathers fortune, estimated at about £430 million, would be devoted to a welfare foundation. In a signed statement read to reporters in Athens by a lawyer, Miss Onassis said the foundation would be set up according to her late father's wishes and instructions, and the major part of the welfare would involve Greece. The foundation would be dedicated to the memory of her brother, Alexander Onassis, who was killed in a plane crash in January 1973. Mr Stelios Papadimitriou, legal adviser of the Springfield Shipping Company, Onassis's Greek headquarters, refused to elaborate after reading the statement or to answer questions regarding Miss Onassis personal plans.
